I started my nurse training in 2009, knowing I wanted to specialise in neurology.
What drew me to neurology was the time I spent volunteering on a ward while I was in college, I had always had an interest in the brain and nursing, this time I spent volunteering confirmed that for me.
I moved to Salford to secure placements at Salford Royal Hospital. Living with nine other students was fun but challenging!
After qualifying in 2012, I worked in the neurology investigations unit, where I developed an interest in MS and Parkinson’s. A secondment with the Parkinson’s team sparked my passion for specialist nursing. I joined the MS team in 2017 and haven’t looked back. It was during this time that I realised how much I valued continuity of care and building relationships with patients over time.
No two days are the same in MS nursing. I enjoy supporting people of all ages and learning about new treatments that constantly evolve how we care for our patients.
Hopes for the Future
The progress made already is incredible, and I’m excited for what’s still to come in regards to treatment and care.
I hope to see more research and developments in MS and that we keep improving how we support patients, making care as effective and convenient as possible.
I hope to see GMMSIN continue and evolve. I feel very passionate about providing timely information for people living with MS and GMMSIN is another way we can facilitate that.
