We suggest all MS patients should take a vitamin D supplement!
Low levels of Vitamin D are linked with MS but it is uncertain whether it is beneficial for MS pending the outcome of clinical trials. It is helpful for bone health. We recommend the equivalent of 4,000 IU (100 mcg) daily. It is safe to self-medicate at these levels. It is important to take Vitamin D before and during pregnancy along with folic acid.
